HISTORY

1946

Rocchi Construction is Founded

John Rocchi, an Italian immigrant, starts Rocchi Construction along with his son-in-law, Pete Peri, and within a short period of time begins a period of concentration on the construction of service stations, i.e. Esso, Crown, Sinclair, Mobile

1956

Rocchi Construction Becomes Incorporated

Rocchi Construction, Inc. becomes incorporated in Maryland, with Pete Peri taking over as President

1969

Armand Shank Joins Rocchi

Pete Peri’s son-in-law, Armand Shank, joins Rocchi

1978

Rocchi Expands

Begins a period of concentration on the construction of restaurants, fitness and aquatic centers, i.e. Holiday Spa, Bally’s, Johns Hopkins Athletics

President

Armand Shank

Armand Shank - President

Armand Shank grew up in Cockeysville, Maryland where he still resides. He attended Towson University at night for 12 years, graduating in 1995 with a major in Business Administration. He served in the US Army from 1966 until 1968 followed by a year as a parts salesman at Anderson Chevrolet. In 1969, he joined Pete Peri, his father in law’s company, Rocchi Construction to learn the commercial construction business. In 1982, he was promoted to Vice President and then to President in 1987 when a buyout plan was put into action. He currently oversees the management and business development for the company.

In his free time, Armand enjoys history and collecting early paper money of Maryland. He was the co-author of “Money and Banking in Maryland” published by the Maryland Historical Society in 1996. He currently serves on the board of the Historical Society of Baltimore County. He is also a trustee of his church where he has donated extensive time to building projects. He has been married to Lisa for 27 years and has one daughter who resides in Austin, Texas.

Vice President

Phil McWiliiams

Phil McWilliams - Vice President

Phil McWilliams grew up in Timonium, Maryland and graduated from the University of Maryland’s School of Architecture in 1977. He has been a registered architect and a member of the American Institute of Architects since 1980. From 1981 to 1999 he was the Vice President of the Towson architectural firm Brosso, Wilhelm & McWilliams and during that time served on the Baltimore County Architectural Review Board for seven years. In 2000 he accepted a position at Rocchi Construction to start up a Design/ Build division for the company where he is currently the Vice President. Phil enjoys the challenge of unique projects and is known for using a pragmatic approach when dealing with design and construction issues.

In his free time, he enjoys photography, bicycling, kayaking and traveling extensively with this wife. Over the last six years he has volunteered his professional services to his church for the re-zoning of the property and is a member of the committee responsible for a multi-million dollar building expansion project.

Project Manager

Dion Amato

Dion Amato - Project Manager

Dion Amato is from Fallston, MD where he was born and raised. He is a Project Manager and Estimator for Rocchi Construction. After 12 years in the commercial carpentry trade, he joined Rocchi Construction in 2001. While in the trade he worked from the position of Carpenters Apprentice to Project Manager as carpentry subcontractor. During that time, he worked for many of the Baltimore area General Contractors and Construction Managers. His career with Rocchi began as a Superintendent where he spent approximately 12 years at that position. Since joining Rocchi Dion has worked on a variety of projects including; car dealerships, health clubs, medical offices, high rise tenant fit outs and manufacturing facilities. This includes project values ranging from a few thousand to 25 million dollars. Dion now works as Project Manager with duties that include estimating, business development and customer service. Recently Dion was voted onto the Board of Directors of Rocchi Construction and is also a member of the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce. Outside of work Dion has a variety of interests that include history, music and wood craft. Dion was inspired to join the trades by the influence of his father and grandfather. One offering creativity and the other the drive to complete a job well done. He is also an amateur machinist and has been published by the Machinist Workshop Magazine, a Village Press publication distributed worldwide. Dion has a 10-year-old daughter and has been married for the past 17 years.
Project Manager

Devin Crandol

Devin Crandol - Project Manager

Devin Crandol is originally from Detroit, Michigan but grew up in Greenville, North Carolina. He attended The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he majored in History and double minored in City & Regional Planning and African American Diaspora Studies. Starting in high school, he spent his summers and weekends working in residential construction. It wasn’t until after college that he began to work on the management side of the business.In 2014, he became an Estimator/Project Manager and continued in that role until he relocated to Maryland and transitioned into commercial construction. Devin joined the Rocchi team in early 2018 and serves as a Project Manager. In this role, he is involved in both management and the estimation of projects. When Devin is not at work, he enjoys watching sports, particularly the Detroit Lions and UNC Tarheels, as well as spending time with his fiancée and 1-year old son.

Office Manager

Jacki Amato

Jacki Amato - Office Manager

Jacki Amato was born, raised and resides in Overlea, MD. She earned a B.A. in Management from Hood College in 1995. Jacki joined the Rocchi Construction team in March 2017 as the Administrative Assistant. She handles the day-to-day operations of the office. During her career, she has held positions at the Community Colleges of Baltimore County Science Department as an Administrative Assistant, State of Maryland – Department of Assessments and Taxation as the Executive Associate to the Director, and Johns Hopkins University Office of University Real Estate as the Lease Administrator. Jacki is married with one daughter. She volunteers at her daughter’s school and is Class Parent. She is an active member of the Hood College Alumni Executive Board, serving as various past officers, and is Class Reporter for her graduating class. In her spare time, Jacki likes to attend Orioles’ games, go to concerts, watch sporting events and spend time with her family.
